Mount Ceder Lodge is a delightful lodge high in the Cedarberg, which offers both fully catered and self-catering accommodation. Mount Ceder is ideally situated for mountain hiking, fishing, swimming and visiting ancient rock paintings of the San (Bushmen) people. The classic walks of Wolfberg Cracks and the Maltese Cross are just 40 minutes drive away whilst there are a number of good walks directly from the lodge.
The nine cottages range in size from charming one bedroom cottages to spacious four bedroom houses, all with Oregon pine furnishings. They are immaculately kept and well-stocked with obvious pride and attention to detail.
The three luxury ‘kliphuis’ stone cottages (each with three bedrooms) are highly recommended. The Klipbookop cottage is the only one with air-conditioning and has a Jacuzzi bath on the deck so we recommend it for high summer. Mount Ceder is ideal for those looking for total relaxation and good walking opportunities, but many people enjoy just swimming and relaxing by the riverbanks. TGCSA 4 star self catering.

Visit by Kate (again) in October: We stayed here for a long weekend in the summer and thoroughly enjoyed our stay and came back again in the Spring. The cottages have everything you could possibly want and the river water was clean and inviting for swimming. Some of our group enjoyed horse-riding on the farm whilst the rest of us visited the nearby Stadsaal caves and rock art. We enjoyed the Maltese Cross walk (3 to 4 hours) with its stunning scenery. Recommended for the reasonably fit as it does involve a fair bit of uphill walking - but definitely worth the effort.
For the high summer I strongly recommend you consider the Klipbokkop luxury chalet as it is air-conditioned, (the rest of the cottages have ceiling fans only), cherrywood furniture and a wooden deck complete with Jacuzzi with magnificent valley and gorge views.
