Maradiva Villas Resort & Spa is an exclusive resort hotel at Wolmar Beach on the West coast of Mauritius. As the hotel’s name would suggest, it is an all-villa resort which is quite unique in Mauritius. The design and décor are beautiful, with the melange of influences that is so typical of this “melting pot” island.
The location – overlooking the azure waters of Tamarin bay and its white sandy beach - deserves a truly magnificent resort and Maradiva Villas, with its 27 acres of lush tropical gardens and grounds, lives up to its setting.
Everything at Maradiva Villas is spacious and peaceful with clean lines, neutral colours and earthy tones. Each of the 68 luxury villas has its own terrace for alfresco living/dining and an adjoining 5 metre private pool. The villas are extremely generous in size, (from 163m² to 345m²), with walk-in wardrobe, flat screen TV with surround-sound, DVD player, internet connectivity, coffee machine and minibar. The bathrooms are vast with a bath for two as well as separate rain shower and secluded open air outdoor shower. A butler is available 24 hours a day.
There are 57 Luxury Villas including 11 Luxury Beachfront Villas which have premium sea views and direct beach access. The six Exclusive Suite villas are huge ( 220m²) with a 25m² swimming pool. These villas are ideal for families with children on extra beds in the sitting room area. Finally there is the two bedroom Presidential suite villa (345m²) for the ultimate in luxury and pampering.
Facilities at Maradiva Villas include the Maradiva Spa (see below) as well as a fully equipped sports centre with the latest cardio & gym equipment and personal trainers on hand. Tennis courts, large swimming pool and a challenging golf course nearby complete the offer. There’s a kids club for younger children.
The Maradiva Spa is a state-of-the-art contemporary spa which is primarily Indian in ambiance, with signature ayurvedic treatments. Therapies range from Indian aromatherapy massages and time-honoured treatments to body scrubs and wraps. The Spa also offers a hydrotherapy cascade pool, a hamman, sauna, beauty salon and a Yoga meditation pavilion.
Dining at Maradiva is an eclectic dining experience. The all-day dining café, Coast2Coast, serves Mediterranean and Mauritian dishes, whilst the Pan-Asian restaurant, Cilantro, offers an array of dishes from the Indian subcontinent including Japan and India. Breakers Bar is the ideal place to enjoy a cocktail at sunset or to enjoy the jazz band after dinner. But be warned that the costs - especially of imported wines - are not for the easily shocked!
