The Turbine Boutique Hotel & Spa

The Turbine Boutique Hotel & Spa was an ambitious project which transformed the old power station into a unique 5 star boutique hotel in Knysna on the Garden Route. We love the use of the old industrial machinery which has been lovingly restored and is an integral part of the design of this contemporary loft-style hotel. The Turbine is modern and funky, and completely in keeping with its location on the vibey Thesen Island.

The Turbine Hotel is surrounded by water on three sides. The hotel comprises of the Island Café & Tapas Bar as well as twenty four individually themed rooms and suites.

Accommodation

The hotel offers a choice of standard rooms and luxury suites. All have kingsize beds or twin beds, en suite bathroom, minbar, air-conditioning, flat screen satellite TV plus dvd player, desk, telephone and tea/coffee facilities. They have a selection of dvds available to borrow. The luxury suites are larger with a small sitting area and kitchenette area with a microwave. Some of them also have a sleeper couch for children. Finally there is a honeymoon suite with a lounge and entertaining area as well as great views over the waterways. Its bathroom has a double shower, standalone bath and bidet.

The Spa offers the ultimate escape for pure self-indulgence whilst outside the swimming pool and pool deck overlook the quiet waterways of the island.

Location of The Turbine Hotel

The Turbine Hotel is located on Thesen Island on Knysna Lagoon yet within a few moments drive of the main part of town. This area has a real Waterfront feel with a range of boutiques, choice of restaurants and also a range of activities which can be taken directly from Thesen Island such as boat cruises out to the Heads, sundowner cruises on the lagoon, kayaking and mountain bike hire.

This is perfect for families with Col’cacchios pizzeria offering al fresco dining on the water's edge and a kids play area within a few metres walk of the hotel.
