Tafika Camp lies in the far northern part of the Zambia's South Luangwa National Park and is owned and run by the locals, John and Carol Coppinger. Their safari company, Remote Africa Safaris, also operates two walking safari camps called Chikoko Trails as well as Mwaleshi Camp in Northern Luangwa National Park.
Tafika Camp is one of the more rustic, and yet one of the most appealing camps in the South Luangwa, as it focuses on giving you an all round safari experience in this area. The camp lies just outside the park, but a mere 5 minute drive in one direction leads to the game-rich Nsefu sector and a canoe trip straight across the river takes you into the park for walking safaris. Tafika boasts some of the finest leopard viewing in the Luangwa valley.
Here exceptional game viewing (with bush walks and day & night drives on offer) is combined with mountain bike safaris as well as walks and visits to the Mkasanga Village - to create a truly holistic safari experience.
Six comfortable and spacious en-suite chalets lie dwarfed by giant leadwood trees, each with its own romantic outdoor shower. Four of the chalets have two double beds. The fifth is a honeymoon suite and has a king size bed and the sixth is a family chalet with a king size bed in one bedroom and two double beds in the other. (Children of 12 years and over are allowed to particpate in the walking safaris. However children 10 years upwards are welcome at Tafika Camp.)
The transfer from Mfuwe Airport to Tafika is 2 hours and partly takes the form of a game drive through the South Luangwa and the adjacent Game Management Area (GMA). You can also opt to fly to Tafika’s local airstrip at Lukuzi airstrip (10 minute flight) which is just 10 minutes drive from Tafika camp. This is offered at an extra cost and can be taken one way or both ways.
Many people staying at Tafika Camp also spend a few nights at one of Remote Africa’s bushcamps which focus exclusively on walking - Chikoko and Crocodile camp. Other unique adventures include river safaris for birding adventurers during the glorious rainy season when other camps are closed.
Special Offer for 7 nights at combination of the properties (Tafika Camp, Chikoko Trails, Mwaleshi Camp & Takwela)
Excludes: Camps only open between May and mid-Nov
