Mwaleshi Camp

Mwaleshi Camp is a small rustic bush camp located in the North Luangwa National Park. It's owned and run by Remote Africa Safaris, and focuses exclusively on walking safaris. It is often combined with their sister camp, Tafika Camp in the northern part of the South Luangwa.
The combination of the harmonious beauty of the camp’s natural surroundings, the exceptional game, the excellent bush cuisine, and its overall simplicity is what attracts people to Mwaleshi Camp. Add on the possibility of sighting some big game on foot, and you have the unique appeal of this rustic little camp.
Mwaleshi Camp is a very comfortable bush camp - simple, yet unpretentious. There are just four reed and thatch chalets situated on the Mwaleshi River. There are solar powered lanterns for lighting and washing with en suite flush toilets and a bucket shower (with hot water brought to your chalet on request).
Mwaleshi Camp is situated 10 km from the Mwaleshi and Luangwa river confluence. Here you may catch a glimpse of hyenas hunting puku in the shallow waters of the river, enjoy impressive herds of buffalo or endemic Cookson's Wildebeest and see some of the large number of resident lion.
Game-viewing is mainly done on foot in the North Luangwa National Park with each bush walk lasting between 3-4 hours. With the possibility of a life-changing lion sighting on foot, you are accompanied an experienced guide and an armed National Park scout. Thanks to the availability of a vehicle – you can also explore further afield on a day trip to the impressive Mwaleshi Falls, located upstream of the camp.
You get to Mwaleshi Camp via a 40 minute charter flight from Mfuwe Airport (the main airport for the South Luangwa Valley) to Mwaleshi airstrip, or via a 30 minute flight from Tafika's nearest airstrip. This is followed by a 10 to 15 minute drive through the park to the camp.
Many people spend some time at Tafika (with walking and game drives on offer), then one of the bushcamps and end their safari at Mwaleshi Camp. Given the remoteness of the camp, we recommend at least 4 nights at Mwaleshi Camp.
“It is the realness of the experience, that dash of adrenaline associated with standing downwind of an elephant and catching its unmistakable scent that make Mwaleshi Camp an unforgettable destination.”
Special Offer for 7 nights at combination of the properties (Tafika Camp, Chikoko Trails, Mwaleshi Camp & Takwela)
