Oyster Bay Lodge is situated on a natural, coastal reserve on the eastern edge of the Garden Route close to St Francis Bay. It is located on 235 hectares of unspoilt land and offers magnificent dunes, rivers, beaches, wetlands and lagoons which are home to free roaming horses and extensive bird life. The key attraction of Oyster Bay Lodge is this natural environment and the variety of activities on offer.
Choose between horse riding (for beginners or more experienced), hiking trails (from 3 to 8km in length), private beach picnics, dune excursions and even mountain biking. You can also try your luck at sand-boarding on the dunes or enjoy a guided night walk with star-gazing. This is also a great area for birding. The lodge lies just behind the sand dunes and a ten minute walk takes you to their private sandy beach which stretches for 3km and offers a great South African beach holiday. You can also use the lodge as a base to visit some of the attractions of the Tsitsikamma such as the Treetop Canopy Tour, Tsitsikamma National Park or nearby St Francis Bay.
There is a choice of accommodation at the four star Oyster Bay Lodge with 4 luxury chalets, 6 standard rooms and one family unit. All luxury chalets have extra length king size beds, en suite open plan bathroom with free-standing bath & walk-in shower and enclosed toilet, as well as minibar, underfloor heating, coffee/tea making facilities, safe and a sitting area with fire place and a small kitchenette. Outside is a private veranda with distant sea views. All chalets can accommodate an extra child in the sitting room.
The six standard rooms are comfortable with extra length king size beds, minibar, safe & coffee/tea facilities. All have en suite bathroom with separate bath & shower. Five of these have a private veranda with distant sea view. One chalet is in the garden close to the swimming pool. None of the rooms have TV but there’s a comfortable TV lounge at the main homestead as well as a convivial bar, restaurant and swimming pool.
The lodge has a separate, more rustic, family unit which has a bedroom with twin beds and a small sitting area with TV as well as a kitchenette. This connects to a second bedroom with queen size bed which in turn leads to a spacious bathroom with free standing bath and shower as well as open fireplace.
Given the location and the range of activities on offer, we strongly recommend a two night stay if possible. Oyster Bay Lodge offers a 2 night 'package' which includes accommodation based on B&B, dinner on arrival, picnic lunch on coastal reserve, unlimited access to hiking trails and the private beach. Their coastal package includes 3 nights accommodation based on B&B, dinner on arrival, picnic lunch on coastal reserve, beach horse ride with experienced guide or Beach Dune Safari with snacks, unlimited access to hiking trails and beach.
