Volcanoes Bwindi Lodge is a sensitively-built lodge which makes the most of a stunning location opposite Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. When not tracking mountain gorillas, guests staying in one of the eight glass-fronted bandas spend much of the time enjoying gazing deep into the forest, spotting birds and other primates. There are 3 doubles and 5 twins and each has its own private viewing balcony.
Bwindi Lodge has carefully managed the area between the lodge and the river as an apparently seamless transition into the national park. This means that mountain gorillas too feel welcome and frequently visit.
Volcanoes Bwindi Lodge is constructed of stone and timber under thatch and, in addition to a fire-side bar and convivial dining room, there is a handy massage sala and a small curio shop. In sympathy with the pristine environment, lighting and water heating is solar powered and in the en suite bathrooms the facilities include an eco-toilet as well as a flush loo. Showers can also be enjoyed al fresco as well as indoors. Bedrooms have walk-in mosquito nets.
WiFi is available in the main lodge building.
As well as gorilla trekking, guests can enjoy guided forest walks, waterfall walks and community walks, visits to community upliftment projects or the local orphanage. Fees go to the community. A complimentary massage is welcomed by many guests and there is a self-guided river walk. Further afield, guests can participate in the Batwa Trail.
Though children of all ages are welcome only teenagers age 15 and above may track gorillas.
