Mari’s review of Kaya Mawa

I absolutely fell in love with Kaya Mawa. It feels like your own private island. No need to go all the way to the Indian Ocean Islalds. This feels as romantic and remote and at a much lower price tag. The Management couple are fantastic and Michelle’s friendliness is huge compliment to the lodge’s stunning setting.

The food was excellent, creative and fresh and the staff was as friendly as the management. The rooms are huge and each so unique and different that you could fall in love with any one of them. I stayed in Mbamba one of the premium rooms. All the steps up is really worth the privacy you have. It has uninterrupted views over the lake and a private plunge pool. I checked out the standard rooms and even though slightly smaller than the premium room, they have direct access to the lake or beach.

Michelle mentioned that they never had a case of malaria and the lake is absolutely bilharzia free at Likoma Island. There are plenty of activities and endless sunsets sooth body and mind. Would love to return to this magical place on a small island in Lake Malawi.
