Motswiri camp is located in the world renowned Selinda Reserve. And operates exclusively on over 120,000 acres of pristine, African bush. This beautiful and remote area combines the open flood plains of the Okavango Delta to the West. And to the North of the camp with the thick, riverine forests lining the Selinda Spillway to the East. What makes this area unique is the Selinda Spillway. It is an ancient watercourse that links the Okavango and the Kwando-Linyanti River drainage systems. In recent decades this has seldom even filled, let alone flowed. However, in 2006 water entered the Spillway from both ends, and it has filled annually since.

Due to the diversity of the vegetation, the birding is superb. The reserve is also home to giraffe, zebra, tsesebe, roan antelope, sable, lion, leopard, cheetah, wild dog and many elephant.

The Accommodation:

Motswiri offers a unique, charming and comfortable base from which to explore some of Africa's remotest areas. It meets the latest, exacting environmental standards and is largely solar powered.

The central main area of the camp boasts with a large, comfortable sitting area with separate dining room. It has wonderful views of the spillway and the wildlife that is attracted to it to drink. There is a discreet sunbathing area with its own plunge pool to jump into when the going gets a bit too hot! In addition, there is a separate viewing platform which overlooks a deep pool where the elephants come to drink. The communal areas and one of the five tents are specifically designed to cater for disabled guests.

Five large and tastefully appointed en-suite, classic Meru tents all on raised decking. Each tent overlooks the Selinda Spillway where the elephants regularly come to bath in the afternoons and each tent has its own private bathroom and large decked veranda.

Motswiri Camp also welcomes families and have a specially designed family unit - can be configured for double bed or twin accommodation.

Activities:

Activities from the camp are all unique and in line with the concession policy of low impact safaris. Walking and horse riding safaris, canoeing and mokoros are the activities on offer. Game drive vehicles are also available for those not wishing to do any of the above activities. With only ten people in camp at a time, activities are tailored to the individual’s needs.
For the horse riding enthusiast, five and seven night riding safaris are available. The camp has twenty well-schooled horses, all stabled in a barn at the back of the camp and all accustomed to riding in big game areas. Please note that, for safety reasons, they will only take experienced riders on riding trails.
