Sausage Tree and its sister camp, Potato Bush Camp, have been taken over by Green Safaris. Their ethos is to deliver an environmentally friendly safari, with a strong focus on community development. BUT at the same time ensuring that their clients have a fantastic time on safari.
They deliver this in spades at Sausage Tree. Alongside Chiawa and Lolebezi, Sausage Tree is one of the smartest lodges in Lower Zambezi (and Zambia). I loved it!
Wonderful serene ambience, stylish suites, and a superb choice of activities.
Great place to end a safari if you are only doing Zambia.
Lower Zambezi is one of my personal favourite places that Iāve been to in Africa: Range of game
activities, very pretty reserve, beautiful mountain backdrop and the very special activity of
canoeing in the channels. Plus itās a great birding area.
My safari highlight here was serenely canoeing along the Chifengulu channel off the Zambezi river.
The suites are huge with sitting room area (slightly separated), large wall of glass overlooking the Zambezi river, bedroom, and huge bathroom all looking onto river frontage and own private (large) plunge pool. The Bathrooms have double shower, and free-standing bath, double vanity, and loo
The eco-friendly āAir-Breezeā cooling system was very effective, (and it was very hot outside.)
Kigelia House is a two-bedroom Family House with two identical bedrooms (similar to the Suites) but sharing a central sitting area and one pool. Could be used for families or two couples.
The stylish main lodge has a breakfast bar facing the river, also ideal for photographers and birders. Plus close by was a huge 25m laptop, but privately situated, so perfect for people wanting to do some exercise.
They will also be introducing E-Dhow boats which will be a game-changer (see Tongabezi).
