Set on a small peninsula, Roho ya Selous overlooks a key waterway linking Lake Manze to Lake Nzerakera, in the heart of the core game-viewing area of Nyerere National Park. This comfortable and stylish camp offers game drives, walking safaris, boating, and catch-and-release fishing, and is ideally situated for exploring this diverse and beautiful reserve. Nyerere National Park is the largest reserve in Africa and home to one of the biggest populations of wild dogs on the continent.
A day at Roho ya Selous starts with an early wake-up call and a cup of tea or coffee. Guests have breakfast at camp or have their meal packed to enjoy on the morning game drive, returning to camp at lunchtime. The afternoon is time to rest. Relax with a book, take a dip in the pool or have a siesta. Guests then refuel with afternoon tea before heading out onto the lake, where they can sip a G&T onboard the lodge's boat. Round off the perfect day with drinks around the campfire and a leisurely dinner.
The name Roho ya Selous means ‘heart of the Selous’. Balancing adventure with plenty of comfort, the camp offers travellers an authentic safari experience. The lodge has seven-seater, open-sided game vehicles for exploring further afield in the reserve and getting closer to large herbivores and predators. The vehicles have canvas roofs, power points and fridges — everything needed to stay comfortable out in the bush.
