Camp Moremi & Camp Xakanaxa – Review by Kate

Camp Moremi is a very stylish, yet in my opinion, well-priced lodge (for Botswana). Given the size of the suites, it would suit people looking for a luxury experience.

The suites are huge with a sitting area, desk, large deck outside, semi-open plan bathroom (hidden by a screen) with a double vanity and double shower. However the toilet is slightly secluded and fully enclosed so I felt that the bathroom could work even if you were two friends sharing (with full use of the screen.)

Camp Moremi feels smarter than Camp Xakanaxa. BUT I preferred the riverside location of Camp Xakanaxa. Camp Moremi is also on the river, but the reeds are higher there so the views (apart from at the Loo with a View near the pool, are more obstructed.

However you are mainly in the Moremi for the game-viewing and this didnt disappoint with lion, leopard, plenty of elephant, buffalo and plains game all from only two game drives. We loved our guide who had several years of guiding experience and it showed.

Other useful pointers:

Family: 2 identical bedrooms, each with own bathroom and a connecting door between the bathrooms. So suitable for adult children as well as kids. It takes kids from 6 years and up.

Fans: No air-conditioning (thats usual for Botswana), ceiling fan and standing fan only

Distance to Airstrip: 20 mins

Pool: One largish pool, secluded, with a Loo with a View close-by

Dining: Communal (unless you request otherwise)

Wifi: Strong, In rooms mainly
