Overview

21 Nettleton provides an elevated boutique hotel experience, and that’s not just because of the commanding view. The secluded setting allows its guests to relax in comfort and luxury, whether that’s next to the pool, on the garden terrace or in one of the lounges. With the back opening onto the Table Mountain Nature Reserve, guests have exclusive access to the hiking trails up Lion’s Head, Signal Hill and Table Mountain.

 

In 2016, the house was carefully converted into a boutique hotel with five suites and a spectacular penthouse. Each room is individually appointed with bespoke art, antique furniture and luxurious soft furnishings – styled in a modern fashion. Closed to the public and accommodating only 12 guests, 21 Nettleton provides uninterrupted privacy and 5-star hotel service in a magnificent clifftop mansion, the epitome of elegance and luxury.

 

A striking, distinguishing feature of 21 Nettleton is the collection of hand-selected pieces owner Hugo has picked up during a lifetime of travels, providing glimpses into the myriad of cultures and people he has met. The art collection boasts over 150 pieces and predominantly focuses on iconic South African art, but also features unique pieces from Europe, China, India and the Middle East

 

The team at 21 Nettleton strives to create inspiring moments that form a life-long impression. Guests leave with memories of golden sunsets as the fading light catches the tops of the Twelve Apostles, the panoramic views of Clifton’s iconic beaches, outdoor massages under the wild strelitzia nestled in the giant granite boulders and unique garden dinners under the stars of the southern hemisphere, while sipping a fine South African vintage.

Rooms

Lions Head Room

A vibrant, warm and intimate space, with a modern and antique ensemble overlooking Lion’s Head Nature Reserve. The suite is located one floor up from the main garden and features a side sea view from the bathroom, but no terrace or balcony. The suite features a king size bed and en-suite bathroom with shower above the bath.

King Room

A modern and elegantly styled suite complete with beautiful art and antique furniture overlooking the ocean and 12 Apostles. This spacious suite features a super-size king bed (or two singles) and a beautiful open plan bath area including a bathtub and walk-in shower. A private lounge and bar area is shared with the Queen suite.

Emperor Suite

A spacious, sophisticated and classic styled suite. The room boasts a king size bed and en-suite bathroom with his and hers wash basins, a separate dressing room, lounge area as well as a large private terrace with sensational mountain and ocean views. The suite was designed with an additional pull down bed which is ideal for children, or a family to share. The additional bed is tucked away neatly when not in use, providing a very open and elegant space to relax.

Queen Suite

A romantic suite with charming and enticing décor and a feature bath in the bedroom. The suite features a king size bed, a separate en-suite bathroom with walk-in shower, a desk area and a spacious terrace with uninterrupted 180-degree views of the ocean and 12 Apostles. A private lounge and bar area is shared with the King suite.

Steinway Suite

This well-appointed, expansive and luxurious suite boasts magnificent infinite views of the ocean and 12 Apostles. The suite features a king size bed and views of the gardens from the main bedroom, a spacious en-suite bathroom which is centered around a large bathtub, a cosy fireplace, a Steinway grand piano, a private library and spacious lounge as well as a large private terrace overlooking the beautiful scenery.

Presidential Penthouse

The penthouse suite assures an epitome of privacy with a command over the entire mansion on the top floor. This opulent and magnificent penthouse boasts 360-degree ocean and mountain views and features a king size bed, two bathrooms, indoor and balcony dining areas, drawing room with fireplace, separate lounge and daybed relaxation area, comprehensive in-room bar as well as an exclusive snack bar.
