Abalone House is a little boutique hotel with ten suites in the picturesque fishing village of Paternoster on the Cape West Coast, known for its unspoilt white-washed thatched cottages. Some – though not many – of the ten suites enjoy sea views but the white sandy beach and ocean lie only a few metres away. Many suites also have private outdoor relaxation areas and there is even a rooftop Jacuzzi with sea views - to relax after your sight-seeing is done. Or you can cool off in the swimming pool, before enjoying a cocktail in the Africa Bar. A coveted and highly-acclaimed Reuben’s restaurant opened in October 2013, elevating Abalone House to new heights of luxury, decadence and service. The elegant Reuben's Restaurant at Abalone House is open for lunch an dinner to both in-house guests and members of the public.
All the suites are air-conditioned and have flat screen televisions and cappuccino/espresso machines, mini-bar, ipod docking station, laptop safe, CD and DVD player and a digital weather forecast station. Book and DVD libraries are available for the enjoyment of guest.
Wherever possible, Abalone House is eco friendly too. Water is solar heated and all kitchen refuse is separated for easy recycling. There’s even a worm farm to generate fertilizer for the surrounding gardens.
In Paternoster you can go kayaking, enjoy pottery and cooking workshops or scuba diving. During spring, a visit to the Columbine Nature Reserve is a must for its displays of wild flowers and at any time, a walk along the 7km of open beach is enticing. Nearby Langebaan has kite surfing and daily sundowner lagoon cruises. Alternatively you can relax at Abalone House's Healing Earth Spa - it offers unique signature treatments available exclusively to guests.
A stay at Abalone House would work very well either at the beginning or end of your holiday so that you can truly rest and relax before returning to everyday life.
