The Cathedral Peak Hotel is a classic mountain resort hotel high in the Drakensberg mountains of KwaZulu Natal. This is a well-run, well-maintained traditional mountain resort hotel runs like a well-oiled machine, with a range of guided activities on offer and stunning panoramic views.

Accommodation

The 96 comfortable rooms at Cathedral Peak Hotel comprise thatched garden rooms, spacious family rooms, superior rooms and honeymoon suites. The thatched garden chalets have television, telephone, fan, heater, tea/coffee making facilities, minibar (stocked on request), king-sized bed and en suite bathroom. Some have a sleeper couch for a child, some have private terraces. The family rooms have two separate inter-leading rooms sharing one bathroom. The new superior rooms are elegant with en suite bathroom, tea/coffee facilities, minibar, flat-screen television, under-floor heating, telephone and private veranda. Adjacent rooms have an inter-leading door for families.

The thatched honeymoon/executive suites are set apart in secluded gardens, offering a greater sense of privacy. All have king-sized bed, LCD television, telephone, mini bar, electric fireplace, under floor heating, spa bath, and private veranda with truly spectacular mountain views!

Activities at Cathedral Peak Hotel

There's a choice of two or three guided walks each day varying in length, as well as horse-riding outrides and mountain biking trails. Keen and fit hikers might like to try the 8-10 hour Cathedral Peak guided hike which is offered twice a week. Scenic helicopter flights offer a unique opportunity to view the breathtaking Drakensberg Mountains from the air.

Unmatched sporting facilities at Cathedral Peak Hotel include two pools (one heated), children's paddling pool, tennis, squash, fully equipped gym and small spa, 9 hole golf course, trout fishing, bowls, 10 meter climbing tower and children's playground.

Cathedral Peak Hotel is ideal for walkers and families (with the extensive sports facilities, trampoline, animal farm and many easy trails available). There’s an indoor games room for older kids with table tennis on offer.

These spacious and comfortable rooms are ideally situated in the beautiful hotel gardens with views of the surrounding foothills. They accommodate 2 adults comfortably but a 3rd adult/ child can also be accommodated however this limits space.

Each room offers a king-sized bed, en-suite bathroom with shower and bath, complimentary in-room amenities, TV, phone, fan, heater, tea and coffee-making facilities, a bar fridge (stocked on request) and a private veranda with views.

Standard Interleading Room

4 Adults | 2 King-sized Beds / Twin Beds

These spacious and comfortable rooms are ideally situated in the beautiful hotel gardens with views of the surrounding foothills. They accommodate up to 4 adults or 2 adults and 2 children.

Each standard interleading offers two comfortable rooms with either king-sized or twin beds separated by a glass cottage-pane sliding door and curtain. The first room offers an en-suite bathroom with shower and bath, complimentary in-room amenities, tea and coffee making facilities and a bar fridge (stocked on request). The second room leads out onto a private veranda with views. Both rooms have a TV, phone, fan, and heater.

Standard Thatched Room

These open-plan thatched rooms are ideally situated in the beautiful hotel gardens with views of the surrounding foothills. They can accommodate up to 3 adults or 2 adults and 2 children.

Each room offers a king-sized bed, sleeper couch, en-suite bathroom with shower in the bath, complimentary in-room amenities, TV, phone, fan, heater, tea and coffee-making facilities, a bar fridge (stocked on request) and a private veranda with views.

Superior Room

2 Adults | 1 King-sized Bed / Twin Beds

These elegant rooms are ideally situated in the beautiful hotel gardens with views of the surrounding foothills and can accommodate up to 2 adults. Adjacent rooms have an interleading door for family requirements.

Each room offers a king-sized bed, en-suite bathroom with shower and bath, complimentary in-room amenities, dressing room and sitting area, TV, phone, fan, underfloor heating during winter months, tea and coffee-making facilities, a bar fridge (stocked on request) and a private veranda with views.

Executive / Honeymoon Suite

2 Adults | 1 King-sized Bed / Twin Beds

These well-appointed thatched executive / honeymoon suites are set apart from the rest of the hotel in tranquil, secluded gardens facing the Drakensberg mountains. Each suite has been re-furbished to enhance its appeal and create a luxurious intimate ambiance.

Each suite boasts a king-sized bed, spacious en-suite bathroom with shower and Victorian slipper bath, complimentary in-room amenities, lounge area, TV, phone, fan, electric fireplace, underfloor heating, tea and coffee-making facilities, stocked mini-bar fridge and a private veranda with loungers and breath-taking mountain views.
Children cannot be accommodated in these suites.

Presidential Suite

The exclusive Mponjwane Presidential Suite offers the ultimate in luxury accommodation set apart from the rest of the hotel in tranquil, secluded gardens facing the Drakensberg mountains.

This suite boasts a king-sized bed, en-suite bathroom with spa bath and shower/ steam room, complimentary in-room amenities, lounge, dressing area, two televisions with full DSTV, gas fireplace, underfloor heating, air conditioning, tea and coffee-making facilities and electric curtains opening onto a private veranda with spectacular mountain views.
Guests are provided with a golf cart for their exclusive use for the duration of their stay.
