Erinvale Accommodation

Erinvale Hotel & Spa offers superior accommodation around an original Cape Dutch homestead in the beautiful Helderberg Valley of the Winelands, close to Somerset West. This 57 room hotel has recently been renovated and offers an ideal base for exploring the many wine estates and the lovely walking country around. It also boasts an excellent golf course and Spa. The False Bay beaches are just 15 minutes away whilst Hermanus, famous for its whale watching, is only one hour's drive. Four superb wine estates are within walking distance of Erinvale Hotel including the historic Vergelegen Manor House and Winery right next door. Erinvale's restaurant is in the carefully restored original manor house and exudes understated elegance and style.

The bedrooms are set around the original stable block and upstairs bedrooms have high thatched roofs. Each of the bedrooms is decorated in a classical style with a personal safe, hairdryer, tea/coffee facilities, bar fridge, television and telephone. They have been renovated by introducing a more contemporary colour scheme whilst retaining their original elegance. All around are tranquil gardens of roses and herbaceous borders.

Golf at Erinvale Hotel & Spa

Erinvale is probably best known for its world-class 18 hole golf course. This American-style golf course is in a delightful country setting and is one of the top golf courses in South Africa. It was chosen as the venue for the World Championships, due to its superb design and challenging course with strategic water hazards on six holes. Though it is a private club, Erinvale Hotel guests can play as members at reduced rates.

Spa at Erinvale

The Spa at Erinvale Hotel is set amongst established trees and overlooks the swimming pool. It has a number of treatment rooms, steam room, indoor heated whirlpool, sundeck and a relaxation room whilst outside you can relax around the swimming pool after your spa session. Tennis, squash, bowls, croquet and horse-riding are available nearby, as well as the Helderberg Nature Reserve, which offers splendid hiking trails and magnificent views.

Classic Rooms

The 22 airy Classic Rooms within the hotel’s lovingly-restored heritage building allow guests to imagine what it must have been like to live in the Helderberg region in the early 1700s, surrounded by some of South Africa’s oldest wine estates. The 30-sqm Classic Rooms eloquently combine the region’s history with bespoke touchpoints, elegant finishings and classic furnishings guided by Clinton Savage Interiors and Architecture. Meanwhile, the en-suite bathrooms, complete with bath and shower, include award-winning TheraVine amenities to create a homely ambiance so guests may relax after a thrilling day exploring this part of Somerset West and beyond.

Luxury Rooms

There are three kinds of Luxury Rooms to choose from – the ground floor room with an adjoining terrace; and a first-floor room that looks out onto either the central courtyard or the manicured garden and spa pool, both of which are coupled with panoramic views of the Helderberg Mountains in the background to remind you why you’re here in the first place. The 35-sqm sumptuous Luxury Rooms showcase a lounge seating area where you can put up your feet in front of the Smart TV (kitted out with streaming services and a full programme bouquet), even though we know you’re probably going to want to explore the surrounding vineyards, unwind at our award-winning spa, or try your hand at the 18-hole, Gary Player-designed golf course instead. Once the day is done, the king-size bed with its 600 thread-count Sanders-Kauffmann linen waits on the other end of a relaxing bubble bath.

Premium Rooms

Each bedecked with a patio that either faces the luscious gardens or carefully-tended courtyard, the 19 ground-floor Premium Rooms are perfect to enjoy a morning cuppa, read a page-turner, or to indulge in a sundowner in the fresh air. These rooms, ranging between 30–35 sqm, are a short walk along a pathway to the historic Cape Dutch Manor House, where the three restaurants – Stefan’s, the Magnolia Social Dining Lounge, and Oak Terrace and Bistro – await with cocktails and fine-dining options alike. The four interleading rooms are ideal for families travelling with children looking to explore the sub-route of the Stellenbosch winelands without compromising on world-class style and comfort, combined with unbeatable South African hospitality.

Loft Rooms

Located within the hotel’s 18th century main building, the five Loft Rooms overlook the manicured lawns and indigenous garden of Erinvale Hotel Estate & Spa’s central courtyard, with the Hottentots Holland Mountain range outlining the horizon. Each loft room – with its sealed-off, thatched high ceiling that’s accentuated with skylights – narrates the hotel’s history and heritage. Staying here offers guests the opportunity to stay in a historic building that’s been tastefully restored with an interplay of old and new elements to offer the modern comforts of a luxurious 21st century establishment.
