Overview

The Hartford House lies on Summerhill Stud on the picturesque KwaZulu-Natal Midlands Meander. South Africa's leading racehorse stud farm - in the foothills of the Drakensberg mountains close to Giant's Castle. This beautiful old 1875 homestead is now an exquisitely furnished country house hotel with an acclaimed restaurant and wine cellar.

Award-winning gardens overlook the paddocks and lake and contain a varied selection of rooms and suites. For all tastes including the eco-sensitive Lakeside Suites, each with a private pool. All are individually decorated with telephone, satellite TV, minibar, underfloor heating, Jacuzzi spa baths and fireplaces.

Activities at Hartford House include swimming and tennis, fly fishing in tranquil trout waters, horse riding on bridle paths and race tracks, walks on the estate and stud farm tours.

Families with children are more than welcome to stay at Hartford. Babysitting services are available.

Manor House - Moor

Situated in the Manor House; consists of King Bed; two bathrooms, one with a large shower and the other with large marble bath; fireplace and complimentary tea and coffee making facilities.

Manor House Gossling

Situated in the Manor House and consists of double bed with bath only. Complimentary tea and coffee making facilities.

Manor House Ellis

Situated in Manor House, consists of 2 Twin beds which can be converted to King; Bath and Shower; small seating area with fireplace and complimentary tea and coffee making facilities.

Lake Suite

Situated near the Lake; Private Luxury Suites consist of King Bed, Bath & Shower; Lounge area with Fire Place; underfloor heating and private Plunge Pool. Suite 14 (Inkanyezi) has a large ROUND King Bed. Complimentary Tea and Coffee making facilities.

Upper Lakeside
