Heritage Le Telfair Golf Resort is an elegant and refined resort hotel on the less developed south coast of Mauritius. This deluxe five star hotel is infused with the charm and ambience of a colonial sugar plantation, a harmonious marriage of classical & contemporary. It opens onto a magnificent tropical garden, and aims to create the perfect balance between luxury, simplicity and friendliness.
158 generous deluxe rooms (54-62 m²) are decorated with simple classical lines with floor to ceiling French doors opening onto a private terrace or balcony with delightful views of the gardens, river or beach. 62 have sea views whilst 16 rooms have a beach front location. Each has air conditioning, ceiling fan, bathroom with bath and shower, safe, mini-bar, tea/coffee facilities, flat screen satellite TV, and internet access. Each room can take two adults and two children (or one teenager). 20 junior suites (81 m²) are more spacious with hexagonal sitting area, four poster bed, signature antique baths, terrace with outdoor shower (mostly) and butler service. Most have a seaview and all are connected to deluxe rooms creating a two bedroom family unit if needed.
The resort lies by a golden sandy beach overlooking a turquoise blue lagoon. There’s a heated swimming pool as well as a pool at the Kids Club (open for children between 4 and 11 years) which also has numerous supervised activities, and there’s also a teen club for 12 to 17 year olds.
However the two main attractions are the Seven Colours spa and the golf course, which are both shared with its sister hotel, the Heritage Awali. The Seven Colours spa offers personalised treatments that rebalance your energies using the Seven Colours rituals. It has an Africa-inspired décor with earthy colours and tropical plants. As well as treatment rooms, the spa offers steam baths, huge sauna, cold water pool and relaxation areas. There’s also a large fully equipped gym with personal trainers.
There are a variety of bars and restaurants. Annabella is the main restaurant divided into four smaller rooms around an open kitchen. Ginja is the beach restaurant serving Pan Asian dishes whilst the 7 Colours restaurant at the Spa focuses on healthy options. Le Palmier is a great ‘feet in the sand’ pool and beach restaurant for light meals.
Sprawling over a further 100 acres of the estate is a Peter Matkovitch-designed 18 hole golf course. Lying between the mountains and the Indian Ocean, this spectacular international golf course is built on more than 100 acres of land. The par 72 course is both technically challenging and varied offering an enjoyable game for all layers with lakes, streams and tropical trees decorating the undulating course. The magnificent Château of Bel Ombre (for dining) and its gardens have been incorporated into the design of the golf course.
Golfers enjoy an amazing view over the lagoon to the south on one side of the course and towards the hills of the Black River Gorge nature reserve on the other side, with unique panoramic views at each hole.
Facilities at the Heritage golf course include a putting green, a chipping green and a driving range as well as a restaurant and bar. Golf carts and caddies are provided for golfers. Two golf professionals offer beginners lessons which can be videoed for extra learning.
