Kalahari Red Dunes Lodge

The Kalahari Red Dunes Lodge is located in the dunes of the western outskirts of the Kalahari. It is here where the vast Karoo desert meets the first red dunes of the Kalahari Desert. The lodge, with its individually and lovingly designed suites, offers space and privacy in abundance. The main house with the reception, lobby area, restaurant, bar and swimming pool with sun deck is situated in a Vlei which is a dry lake. A wooden boardwalk connects the main house with the suites sitting around the Vlei where lots of wild animals can be spotted. Each guest suite includes both canvas and stone walled areas with thatched roofs and a private terrace with cozy sofas.

Experience the breathtaking beauty of the Kalahari Desert with its red dunes up to 30m high and its rich wildlife stock by walking foot, on the well-signposted network of hiking trails, by bicycle or on one of the twice daily nature drives.

Optional Activity

Spend the night in the vastness of the African savannah on a 2-night hike through the red sand dunes, grass and tree planes of the Kalahari. Feel the hot desert wind on your skin whilst watching antelope herds in the veld or spot giraffes feeding among the trees.

Enjoy an African Braai at the campfire on a dune before listening to the sounds of the night, either in a tent or outside under the starry sky. In the morning, shortly before sunrise, grab a hot cup of coffee and watch gnus and zebras on the water hole before experiencing that magic moment when the sun comes up in glittering gold just behind the dunes.
