Mooiplaas Guest House

Mooiplaas Guest House is on a family-run working ostrich farm and is a great place to get away from it all and relax in the heart of the Little Karoo. With the commercial ostrich farms, Cango Caves, Cango wildlife ranch and Meerkat Magic Conservation Project, the Little Karoo is a popular stop off for families, and Mooiplas is a very family friendly property.

The dining room offers fine local cuisine and serves a full breakfast, picnic baskets on request and a four course dinner menu.

The 16 spacious suites feature separate lounge area, bedroom and huge modern bathroom. From your room’s terrace you can enjoy the magnificent panoramic view of the ever-changing purple-hued Swartberg Mountains. There are tea and coffee making facilities in the rooms, with complimentary home-made rusks. Air-conditioning should keep you cool in the hotter months, and free Wi-Fi will allow you to keep in touch with the outside world, should you wish to.

There are 4 family suites which sleep 4 people. Three family suites have a king bed, full bathroom (bath and shower) and a lounge area. One family suite has a queen bed, shower bathroom and two single beds in the lounge area. All are on ground level with a separate entrance and have spectacular views of the gardens and Swartberg Mountains. You can even see the town of Oudtshoorn from the front porch. Baby-sitting services are available at a nominal cost and they will gladly arrange early dining hours for children.

Mooiplaas Guest House recently added 4 self-catering suites by converting a neighbouring farmhouse into 4 suites. Each self-catering suite has its own private patio with table and chairs. Braai facilities are available.
