Shamwari was the original malaria-free game reserve in the Eastern Cape and remains at the forefront of conservation in the area. One of Shamwari's strengths is that it lies at the convergence of five ecosystems and this diversity supports the Big Five (elephant, lion, leopard, rhino and buffalo) as well as varied antelope and a rich birdlife. Being so small, Sarili Villa is ideal for families or groups of friends. Sarili offers an ideal family safari experience with child-friendly accommodation and a special children's menu. Child minders can also be arranged so that parents can have a romantic safari dinner.

Shamwari offers a special Kids on Safari programme where children from 4 and upwards have a chance of a lifetime to view the Big 5, see special educational films, visit the Born Free Foundation & Shamwari Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre. The Born Free Foundation promotes the conservation of endangered species and the protection of habitat whilst maintaining a compassionate approach to the welfare of animals.
