Shindzela Tented Camp (named after the honey badger in the Shangaan language) is an authentic tented bush camp made from wood and canvas, set within the Timbavati Private Game Reserve which is part of the greater Kruger National Park of South Africa.
Explore the African wilderness on game drives in open safari vehicles and on foot during bush walks - which is a particular speciality of theirs. Safari activities are conducted by professional and knowledgeable safari guides. Shindzela Tented Camp has an informal, relaxed atmosphere. In contrast to many other lodges, they have chosen to retain the very simple, but comfortable bush camp ambience in an unfenced, private and natural wilderness environment. Power is provided by solar and gas - there is no electricity.
Shindzela is a comfortable tented bush camp, set on the banks of a dry riverbed, facing a small watering hole. Canvas tents can either be made up in twin or double bed accommodation, set on wooden platforms with a wooden entrance door, adjustable canvas flaps for windows, and mesh to keep insects out. Each tent has a thatch roof and porch, designed to cool the tents in summer. Tents have solar lighting, and are equipped with all bedding and towels. Private bathrooms are made from reeds wood and canvas and feature a shower, hand basin and flush toilet.
The main area at Shindzela Tented Camp encompasses a covered dining tent under thatch, kitchen, and a central African fireplace - a perfect spot to relive safari experiences around the fire. Relax and cool off in the inviting plunge pool.
Note: Shindzela Tented Camp usually offers bush walks (or game drives) in the morning and an afternoon game drive (possibly with a shorter walk). No children under 16 years are allowed to go on a bush walk.
