Singita Boulders

Singita continues to maintain its worldwide reputation as one of the World's finest and most exclusive safari companies and has two lodges in the Sabi Sands: Singita Boulders and Singita Ebony, both decorated and run to the same immaculate standards, but very different in feel.

Singita Boulders has a contemporary African ambience with strong Eastern influences and extensive use of glass. The public areas are open to the bush and showcase the best in modern African décor. The décor is a clever juxtaposition between the textures of Africa and carefree lines of an occasional retro classic. Imagine rough-hewn timber, leather and stone meet thatch and wild views! A free flowing indoor sitting area leads out to alfresco lunchtime dining on multi-tiered decks under the shade of giant jackal berry trees. You can enjoy wrap-around views from most parts of the lodge, and the lookout deck offers the perfect spot from which to observe wildlife drawn to the Sand River.

A lavishly decorated dining room leads to a hidden surprise downstairs - a well stocked wine cellar of over 12,000 bottles of the best South African and international vintages, with informal wine-tasting presentations offered by Singita's resident sommelier (on request). Inspiring the name Boulders was an enormous boulder that sat right in the middle of the place where the wine cellar was to be built. A simple decision was made to build the cellar around the boulder...

Singita Boulders has beautifully appointed glass-fronted suites with separate lounge and bedroom, double-sided fireplace, opulent bathrooms with freestanding baths, and both indoor and outdoor showers. Each comes equipped with a mini bar, safe, air-conditioning, overhead fans and telephone. Outside the expansive teak deck contains a private plunge pool and offers views of the Sand River or the bush in the case of the two Bush Suites. There are also luxurious two-bedroom suites which are ideal for two couples travelling together or families with older children (over ten years).

Activities

Morning and afternoon-into-night game drives in the Sabi Sands are led by professional rangers and Shangaan trackers expert in locating animals. The wide range of activities the guests are free to enjoy at the lodges distinguishes Singita. The dedicated Bush Spa and Gym offers a comprehensive personal treatment programme, whilst the African Trading Store showcases Africa's finest and most exclusive clothing, artworks and decorative ware.

Bush breakfasts and sunset cocktails may be arranged for you in some of the most scenic spots in the reserve, or you may dine on the privacy of your deck. A guided visit to Justitia Village, just outside the Sabi Sand reserve, will provide you with fascinating insights into the life of the local Shangaan community.

Given the varying terrain and wildlife of the Sabi Sands and the Kruger, you might like to combine two nights at Singita Boulders with two nights at either Singita Lebombo or Singita Sweni in their private concession within the magnificent Kruger National Park.
