Singita Ebony

Singita Ebony combines vibrant tribal colour with a warm colonial ambience. It is one of the two Singita Sabi Sands lodges, decorated and run to the same immaculate standards, but very different in feel. Singita Ebony is set in the dappled shade of a giant knobthorn and jackal berry forest on the banks of the Sand River. Sumptuous cosiness is simply the order of the day - tempting you into relaxation and reflection. The public areas consist of a double volume sitting and dining area leading out to an expansive deck ideal for alfresco breakfast and lunch, with beautiful views down to the river. From the vast wooden deck to the pool overlooking the Sand River, it’s not uncommon to see elephant, buffalo and antelope grazing only metres away at any time of day. To the side is a cosy and warm library with a roaring fire for the winter evenings.

Accommodation

Singita Ebony has 12 beautifully-appointed thatched suites which are the epitome of elegant comfort, with an eclectic mix of colours, fabrics and textures. The colonial ambience with Egyptian linen, African throws, antiques and modern luxuries combine to create a homely, lived-in feel. Each has a separate lounge and bedroom with a double-sided fireplace as well as a spacious bathroom with Victorian ball and claw bath. Outside the large, raised private deck has a heated plunge pool and an open air shower. The Lewis Suites are located closer to the main lodge so they are ideal for families or friends. All are equipped with mini bar, safe, air-conditioning, overhead fan and telephone.

The family suites at Singita Ebony allow families to relax in their own space and share the wonderful experience of a safari together. The two bedroom suites offer an en-suite master bedroom with outside shower and comfortable second en-suite bedroom, private game viewing deck, living room with fireplace and swimming pool. Singita’s approach to family safaris is to steer clear of set, cookie-cutter programmes. Instead, fluid itineraries are planned around each family.

The dedicated Bush Spa and Gym offers a comprehensive personal treatment programme, whilst the African Trading Store showcases Africa's finest and most exclusive clothing, artworks and decorative ware.

Singita Ebony offers morning and afternoon-into-night game drives are led by professional rangers and Shangaan trackers who are expert in locating animals on foot or by open 4 x 4 safari vehicle.

Bush breakfasts and sunset cocktails can be arranged for honeymoon couples (or on request) in some of the most scenic spots in the reserve, or you may dine on the privacy of your deck. A guided visit to Justitia Village, just outside the boundary of the Reserve, will provide you with fascinating insights into the life of the local Shangaan community.

Given the varying terrain of the Sabi Sands and Kruger National Park, you might like to combine two nights at Singita Ebony with two nights at Singita Lebombo or Singita Sweni in a private concession within the Kruger.
