The Sun City Cascades Hotel is a sophisticated and elegant hotel with lush gardens, tropical birds and water features. The Cascades Hotel is the grand old lady of Sun City, and still retains a timeless elegance. What we like about it is that it is both centrally located, yet crucially a little apart from the hub of evening entertainment and casinos which are based at the Sun City Main Hotel next door. Understandably it's often the favourite hotel amongst visitors who know Sun City well.
All the rooms at Sun City Cascades Hotel face the tropical splendour of the gardens and pools including 12 man-made waterfalls and cataracts. These beautiful gardens offer unparalleled seclusion and escape from the hustle and bustle of the rest of Sun City with a private beach and tanning island by the swimming pool. The 243 rooms at the Cascades have en suite bathrooms, TV, radio, air-conditioning, telephone and minibar. Luxury rooms and suites have spa baths.
Sun City Resort offers numerous attractions such as theatre shows and loads of outdoor pursuits. How about taking a dip at the inland beach in the Valley of the Waves, or braving the Temple of Courage water slides? Children adore exploring the 'jungle' gardens and visiting the crocodile farm whilst adults can play a round of golf on the two Gary Player golf courses. Tennis, squash, horse-riding and a variety of water sports are all available.
The Gary Player Country Club in Sun City was built in 1979 and is acknowledged as a difficult and demanding course. The comparatively flat nature of the golf course is misleading - water hazards, cunningly sited bunkers and pins hidden away on kidney shaped greens makes up for the lack of gradient. Best known as the home of the Nedbank Golf Challenge, most golfers, including Compleat Golfer magazine, rank this course as the best in South Africa.
The Sun City Resort is also home to the Lost City Country Club, very different to the Gary Player Country Club’s layout but no less alluring. This course was built in 1992, and was the first to benefit from the services of a professional shaper when it was constructed.
