The Palace at the Lost City

Luxury
The opulent Palace at the Lost City is considered one of the finest hotels in Africa - built in the style of an ancient palace. Indeed the sheer scale of the hotel is complemented by the extraordinary craftsmanship seen in the exquisite mosaics, frescoes, ornate hand-painted ceilings and elegant bronze and stone sculptures throughout the hotel. The tropical gardens are lush with rainforests, waterfalls and pools. If understated elegance is your thing, then The Palace at the Lost City is not for you!
The Palace at the Lost City's 338 air-conditioned rooms and suites have a contemporary African-Eastern style with hand-carved furnishings, luxurious bathrooms, TV, telephone and minibar. Each has wonderful views over the water or the tropical gardens. A hand-carved armoire contains the TV, minibar, safe and butler station. Children are accommodated with a sleeper couch in Luxury Family Rooms, which takes two smaller children or one older child. The Palace has a choice of restaurants as you would expect of a top five star hotel of this size. Choose between the elegant Crystal Court Restaurant with its floor to ceiling windows overlooking the architectural swimming pool, or the Villa del Palazzo which serves classic Italian cuisine. Cocktails can be enjoyed at the atmospheric Tusk Bar or in the Palm Court Lounge. Outside casual lunches, snacks and drinks are available at the pool bar overlooking the huge and magnificent swimming pool at The Palace.
The surrounding Sun City Resort is paradise to children and all those who are young at heart. It is a man-made resort - so no real authentic African ambience here, but it offers numerous attractions such as theatre shows and loads of outdoor pursuits. How about taking a dip at the inland beach in the Valley of the Waves, or braving the Temple of Courage water slides? Children adore exploring the 'jungle' gardens and visiting the crocodile farm whilst adults can play a round of golf on one of the two Gary Player golf courses. Health spas, tennis, squash, horse-riding and a variety of water sports are all available.
The Palace at the Lost City lies approx 1½ hours from Johannesburg and Pretoria and is easily combined with a private safari in either Madikwe Game Reserve (two hours to the north), or the Pilanesberg Game Reserve which is adjacent to Sun City.
