Tsala Treetop Lodge, in the indigenous forest of the Garden Route close to Plettenberg Bay, is simply stunning. One of the most romantic and sensual lodges in South Africa. One of a kind when it was built a few years ago, it still sets the pace today. Contemporary architecture with clean lines and the juxtaposition of contrasting textures is married with a strong African heritage to create a warm, sensual experience. For this reason we recommend Tsala Treetop Lodge for honeymooners and all romantics.
This 5 star lodge is situated approx 10 km outside Plettenberg Bay on route to Knysna in a secluded forest setting. Tsala Treetop Lodge is reminiscent of the ancient stonework of Mapungubwe and inside the hand-crafted furniture is opulent and evocative. It offers a variety of public areas. A library with fireplace and cosy lounges. And a dining room with glass floor panels allowing a view into the underground cellar below. Outside there's an expansive timber deck, suspended over the forest on several levels. With views down the forested valley - perfect for an alfresco lunch or sunset drinks before dinner.
Ten luxurious suites set on stilts rise above the forest canopy with enchanting views down to the Piesang River valley. Elevated wooden walkways take you to your timber suite. Which is decorated in a contemporary African style using natural colours and textures. Each has a separate sitting area, double fireplace for romantic winter evenings, ceiling fan, a bathroom with a freestanding oval stone bath and indoor & outdoor showers. Outside your suite is a balcony to the front and a private wooden deck complete with infinity pool suspended above the forest floor.
Tsala Treetop Lodge also offers six very spacious Two Bedroom Villas. Which are of the same accommodation style but with the convenience of being linked. These villas are ideal for two couples or families travelling with children (over 6 years). The two en suite bedrooms share a spacious 40 sqm sitting room area with an extensive outdoor private wooden deck, complete with infinity pool.
Tsala now welcomes children 6 years and older, ideally in the two-bedroom villas. Children staying at Tsala are treated with special turn-downs, bedtime stories and children’s meals at Zinzi restaurant ensuring that they are comfortable and having fun, so that parents can relax and enjoy their holidays.
For the older children Plettenberg Bay offers activities and things to keep them occupied throughout their stay.
Dinner at Tsala Treetop Lodge is a festive affair with a choice of restaurants offering imaginative dishes. Tsala's restaurant specializes in seafood and African fusion dishes whilst Zinzi's is a vibey new restaurant between Tsala and its sister lodge Hunters and this offers a more casual ambiance. There's a well-stocked wine cellar full of good South African vintages.
Warm, personal yet unobtrusive service is the hallmark of Tsala Treetop Lodge, which is owned and managed by the Hunter family. Whether you wish to stay in and relax amidst the ancient enchanting forest, or to head out and explore South Africa’s celebrated Garden Route, experiencing Tsala is pure magic...
