Charming throwbacks to the 18th century can be found throughout the heart of Cape Town: at Heritage Square, in the pretty De Waterkant and adjacent to the historic Company Gardens. From your city-based hotel, you can walk or Uber to all of the city’s landmarks. Indeed Cape Town is a very walkable city. Meander through the historic Company Gardens, visit some of Cape Town’s top museums and galleries. Or bargain it out in the vibrant craft market of Greenmarket Square.
Close by lies the Bo-Kaap, one of Cape Town’s oldest Malay areas, full of vibrantly colourful houses and cobbled streets. Here you can enjoy a walking tour of the markets. Or participate in a Cape Malay cooking workshop.
There are plenty of luxurious hotels in Cape Town city centre. One of our favourites is the Taj Cape Town with its prime position opposite the Company Gardens. Other favourites are the uber-contemporary 15 on Orange, the Old Bank Hotel close to Greenmarket and Cape Town Hollow. On the very edge of the city centre lies the Grande Dame of Cape Town hotels, the Mount Nelson. Whist the trendy De Waterkant area is home to many two & three bedroom apartments, perfect for families wanted some space to spread out.
Greenpoint is on the Atlantic side of the city centre – where Villa Zest and Treetop Lodge are located. It’s adjacent to the city centre yet also within walking distance of the Waterfront and the Seafront promenade.
