Excursion to Nosy Komba and Nosy TanikelyBrown lemur on Nosy Komba, Nosy Be holidays

This can be either one full day excursion or one or the other. The full day excursion visits Nosy Komba in the morning. And then heads to Nosy Tanikely for lunch and an afternoon of snorkelling.

Nosy Komba

Nosy Komba is a beautiful rocky island where lush rainforest-covered hills drop steeply into the surrounding azure waters. The big attraction are its ring-tailed lemurs, brown lemurs and black lemurs. The lemurs at Nosy Komba are very tame so they provide very good photo opportunities. But some people find that it is too much of a ‘zoo-like experience’. If you are planning to head to some of the main wildlife reserves in Madagascar, then you may not feel the need to see this reserve.

Nosy Komba lemurAfter the tour of the reserve, you also visit the bustling island markets. These are full of embroidered white lace, colourful sarongs and wooden carvings. Again, if you enjoy shopping for local crafts, you’ll love it but if you are looking for peace and quiet, perhaps focus on Nosy Tanikely instead.

Nosy Komba also offers some great accommodation options such as Tsara Komba or the more modest Jardin de Vanille.

Nosy Tanikely

After Nosy Komba, you head to Nosy Tanikely which is a superb marine reserve, with coral reefs offering wonderful opportunities for snorkelling and diving. Here you enjoy a picnic lunch on the beach with time set aside for swimming and snorkelling on the reef. Being a marine reserve, Nosy Tanikely can only be visited for the day.

Tip: Many people snorkel within the reef which is OK but not nearly as impressive as when you swim out to just beyond the reef where there’s an amazing drop-off and good visibility.

Please Note: We don’t arrange these excursions as stand-alone activities. Only as part of a tailor-made holiday booked with Cedarberg Africa.
