Some of the best hiking on Saint Helena
- short easy hike to Mundens
- Hike to Heart shaped Waterfall – is at its most prolific during the winter months, but gentle hike along a well maintained path to the spectacular rock face.
- Lots Wife’s Pond. With narrow, rocky paths and ropes at the stickiest bits, it’s certainly challenging, but to swim in those sheltered sea ponds at the end is just the best.
- An alternative, but less demanding walk, is Diana’s Peak the highest point on St Helena at 823 metres above sea level and is home to exotic flora and fauna.
Finally though not strictly a walk, Jacobs Ladder is certainly a hike upwards. It was built in 1829 as an inclined plane to connect Jamestown to the Garrison at Ladder Hill. It stretches 900 feet high and is an intriguing 699 steps to reach the top. Its perfect for a morning climb, to relax at the top, taking in the wonderful views of Jamestown.
