Horizon Horseback Safaris

As one of the longest established riding safari operations, Horizon Horseback Adventures offers its signature riding safari for all levels of riding ability. They are based on the family farm in the Waterberg Mountains of South Africa.

Guests can ride early in the morning and again every afternoon. They will be accompanied by guides who will share their knowledge of the wildlife and the bush. You won’t be riding alongside dangerous predators, but there will be chances of seeing hippo, giraffe, zebra, antelope, leopard, caracal, brown hyena, jackal, crocodile and aardvark while out on horseback. There are also over 300 bird species on the reserve.

A key attraction of Horizon Horseback Adventures is their stable of 80 horses. So, there is a mount to suit novice and experienced rider alike. Many guests are non-riders or novices. It is a relaxed and friendly environment for couples, solo travellers (of whom there are many) and families.

In addition to game viewing, there is a wide range of other riding activities to choose from. These include outrides over excellent riding country, polocrosse, cattle mustering, jumping, western games and swimming with your horse. Morning rides last 3-4 hours (or less if requested). Afternoon rides are somewhat shorter. Jumping is also available on request.

The Horizon Horseback Safaris is perfect for those who like a tailor-made itinerary. With complete flexibility and a great variety of riding options, it is perfect for those who have mixed riding ability. All levels of riders and all ages are welcome!

While there is no minimum stay requirement, a stay shorter than 3 nights would probably be too limiting. Most clients stay from 5 to 10 nights.
