This morning you fly from Johannesburg OR Tambo Airport to Vilanculos in Mozambique. Here you are met and transferred down to the shore for your boat transfer across to Benguerra Island where you spend the next five nights.
Benguerra Island is one of the largest of the five islands of the Bazaruto archipelago, lying just off the Mozambique coast. Here you will find empty white sandy beaches, lush vegetation and an azure blue sea for swimming amongst the rich coral life. These idyllic island retreats are laid-back, romantic and peaceful. Most of the focus is on enjoying the unspoilt marine environment with expert diving and snorkelling on offer.
You have a choice of beach lodges – Benguerra Lodge and Azura Retreat on Benguerra Island and Anantara Bazarato Resort on neighbouring Bazaruto Island.
Azura Benguerra Island (Base Price) is set on one of Benguerra’s best beaches. The country’s first luxury ‘eco’ boutique retreat. All 14 villas have private plunge pools. Mozambican cuisine, making use of fresh fish and seafood, and complemented by fine wines stored in a purpose-built cellar. The lodge was built entirely by hand by the local community. Signature spa treatments available based on local ingredients.
OR
Anantara Bazaruto (Moderate – request a quote) is a resort lodge on Bazaruto Island with each chalet and villa offering modern luxury, with air-conditioning, mosquito screen, sumptuous en suite bathroom, minibar, satellite TV and telephone. Probably the most-resort like of the options.
OR
andBeyond Benguerra Lodge (Upgrade Price) lies on Benguerra Island, an idyllic African island paradise only 8 minutes by air from Vilanculos on mainland Mozambique. At Benguerra Lodge you have a personalized experience, infused with the style, standards and service of a bygone safari era. It’s small and intimate and has a rich North African/Arabic feel, in both the décor, and the colour scheme.
A range of water sports is on offer at Anantara Bazaruto Island Resort such as diving, snorkelling, water-skiing, and some of the best deep-sea and saltwater fishing off Mozambique. They also also offer boat cruises to the Pansy islands, sunset cruises in the ancient dhow boats and island tours.
