Overview
On our Footsteps Walking Safari, you enjoy one of the great, untamed regions of Africa. The spectacular Okavango Delta in Botswana! You get to experience the astonishing contrasts created when the mighty Okavango River flows into the arid Kalahari Desert...
The result is a variety of habitats, riverine forest, palm islands, permanent swamps and dry sandveld. All with an unparalleled wealth of animal diversity. This traditional safari maintains the elegance and of the original ‘under canvas Africa safari’. The emphasis on this 4-night Footsteps walking safari is on exploring this breathtakingly beautiful and diverse environment as the first African explorers did. Either by mokoro or on foot...

Accommodation
You stay at Footsteps Across the Delta Camp on the Shinde Concession in the Okavango Delta. This consists of three insect-proof tents, with sewn-in floors and proper beds, a private bucket shower and bush toilet for each tent, a game-viewing platform and a bush kitchen with meals cooked over the camp fire. This is a more rustic mobile safari camp than the more traditional photographic safari camps but surprisingly comfortable.
Upgrade Options
We have included one night ay Shinde Camp, 3 nights at Footsteps and 2 full days with an experienced walking guide.
However you can choose to add a second night at Shinde so that you combine both game drives, water-based activities AND walking. Plus, you can now do walking safaris at any one of their camps. So you can opt to stay at Shinde or Kanana Camp for the whole duration.
Note: This safari does not operate from January to February! It is too hot and humid to do walking safaris in comfort..

You stay at Footsteps Camp on the Shinde Concession of the Okavango Delta. This consists of three insect-proof dome tents, with sewn-in floors and proper beds, a private bucket shower and bush toilet for each tent, a game-viewing platform and a bush kitchen with meals cooked over the camp fire.
You return to camp for a piping hot bucket shower under the stars followed by a tasty dinner.
The day begins before sunrise with coffee around the fire, and a light breakfast before heading out to see what the bush has in store.
Walking in the Delta’s wilderness is the highlight of a ‘true safari’ experience. No special training is required, as distances travelled are small – rather the focus is on exploration and discovery – each morning tracking fresh spoor to reveal the night’s events.
Following another delicious lunch prepared on charcoal, you are left to a lazy afternoon relaxing in your tent or reading. In the afternoon you enjoy another game walk or other safari activities include game drives, mokoro trips or fishing, which vary throughout the year.
After a final early morning game walk or drive and brunch, you bid farewell to the camp staff and your guides and you are transferred by 4×4 vehicle back to the airstrip where you fly back to Maun.
