Overview
Masai Mara National Park
The Kicheche Mara Snapshot 3 night safari is typical of the classic experience of staying under canvas. This small, friendly tented camp is only 20 mins from the Mara north airstrip. So there is no time lost and you can maximize every minute that you spend in the Mara North conservancy.
Mara North forms the north-western zone of a cluster of private conservancies. These are partnerships between private lodge operators and Maasai landowners. The density of traffic around the large hotels and lodges within the Masai Mara National Reserve has become a little overwhelming. So these wilderness areas have really come into their own in the last decade.
The Camp
Kicheche Mara North Camp is a classic tented camp hidden in a beautiful valley. This is a prime wildlife area of the Mara North Conservancy. Only eight tents creates an intimate and relaxed atmosphere. The luxury tents are laid out alongside a seasonal stream. So you can observe the resident birdlife and plains game beyond from your own tent. The camp is hosted and there is a team of attentive staff ensuring personal warmth and attention to any needs. Meals are taken in the dining tent or in the shade of a large tree with a beautiful view down the valley. The location is so ideal that game viewing frequently starts in the camp itself. And there is prime wildlife habitat on all sides providing an ideal base for your safari in the Masai Mara.
Alternative 'snapshots'
Kicheche Mara has two smaller sister camps in the Mara; Kicheche Olare Bush Camp in the Olare Motorogi Conservancy. And the luxurious option, Kicheche Naibosho Valley in the Mara Naboisho Conservancy. Consider extending your Kenya safari to include one or both of these camps as well.
Notes:
- There is a small supplement for Kicheche Olare Bush Camp or Kicheche Valley Naibosho. This varies by season but is between $250-$425 per person sharing for the 3 nights. Naibosho camp 's price is in between.
- The Camps are CLOSED during the long rainy season which is mainly from mid April to mid May.
