Spend three nights at Mkulumadzi Lodge, with its magnificant riverside setting where you can enjoy game drives, guided walks, and even short hikes to spectacular viewpoints.

Continue to Liwonde National Park for two nights at Kuthengo Lodge, set on an open plain beside the Shire River. Here you’ll encounter elephants, hippos, and an array of birdlife while exploring by boat, on foot, or in a vehicle.

• Best time to travel: Mid April to October for dry-season game viewing and clear lake waters
• Fly into Blantyre on either Saturday or Wednesday. You can also choose to fly into Majete (from Lilongwe instead of transferring by road from Blantyre)
• Personalize to suit you — adjust nights, flight routes, or lodges to match your travel rhythm and style
