Overview
This 7 night safari starts at Dar es Salaam with an overnight stay. The following day, you set off to explore the wildlife-rich and unspoilt wilderness areas of southern Tanzania’s game reserves on safari, before hopping by plane to the island of Zanzibar for days spent snorkelling on tropical reefs and enjoying sandbank picnics.
It starts with 3 nights in the glorious Nyerere National Park (formerly the Selous Game Reserve) at Roho ya Selous . The Nyerere is so vast it is impossible to count its game and that is exactly what makes it so special. It is untouched African wilderness and yet easily accessible from Dar and Zanzibar. It’s much quieter than the Northern parks, the rivers and lakes of Nyerere National Park are the lifeblood to a park that has phenomenal volumes of game including Africa’s largest elephant and wild dog populations and probably it’s largest buffalo, hippo, crocodile and lion prides.
The you fly to the wild Ruaha National Park for 3 nights at Jabali Ridge Camp. Largely unexplored, Ruaha is as remote as you can get in East Africa. Situated far from other camps in Ruaha, you will see little if any human activity and be able to absorb the wild in exclusivity. It has a surprisingly varied landscape that ranges from baobab forests, granite kopjes and open plains to cooling rivers and woodland valleys.
Optional Extension to Zanzibar
