Overview
Arusha * Tarangire National Park * Ngorongoro Crater * Serengeti National Park
This 8 night tailor-made safari allows you to truly experience northern Tanzania. On our Timeless Tanzania itinerary, you'll stay in lodges and camps which are amongst the best of their type. This makes this an ideal treat for a landmark anniversary or honeymoon vacation, even for a special birthday. The main safari takes you from game-rich Tarangire to the shores of Lake Manyara. Then you head for a relaxing 2 nights in the Ngorongoro highlands with a day in the crater and then travel on to the Serengeti to experience its wide spaces and teeming herds of wildlife.
It is a drive-in and fly-out safari to give you the best of all worlds. You get to see the countryside without the stop-start of flying. But you end with a convenient flight back to Arusha.
Timeless Tanzania at a Glance
- 1 night Katambuga House, Arusha
- 2 nights Olivers Camp, Tarangire National Park,
- 2 nights Plantation Lodge, Ngorongoro Crater
- 2 nights Kubu Kubu Tented Camp, Serengeti National park
It is a tailor-made safari so you can add nights where you wish. And even change accommodation. For example, depending on your time of travel, we may decide to change the Serengeti camp to be close to the Great Migration.
Activities on safari:
Activities at Tarangire and Lake Manyara including watching vast herds of elephant quenching their thirst in the river, flamingos on Lake Manyara, perhaps even undertaking the treetop canopy guided walking.
At Ngorongoro you can walk around the colonial style farm and also picnic and game view in the deep volcanic crater, the biggest dry and complete caldera in the world. It is 20 km across, 600 m deep and 300 sq km in area, quite a breathtaking sight. We recommend 3 nights here so that you can enjoy the many activities of the area, as well as the famous day safari down to the crater floor. (However if can opt for 2 nights only if time is short...)
Going north to the Serengeti Plains you will be in the wide open savanna with its herds of game. The sense of endless space here is really special. You are likely to see lion, hyena, cheetah and maybe leopard here. En route we visit the Olduvai Gorge site and museum.
Optional extension to Zanzibar with 3-4 nights at a beach resort of your choice
Why not end your safari by heading onto the soft white beaches and historic coastal towns of Zanzibar? Here you can relax on the beach and visit Stone Town, a World Heritage Site. There are plenty of other activities on offer here from spice tours, to diving, to dolphin spotting.
