This adventurous Western Madagascar tour is for those who love to explore remote off the beaten track places. It includes all the highlights of Western Madagascar: The Tsingy de Bemaraha, Baobab Alley, Kirindy and Morondava.

To see a reasonable spectrum of Madagascar’s endemic mammals, birds, reptiles and trees, you ideally need to visit a variety of climatic  and floral zones. So we love this combination of  Western Madagascar with the addition of the Eastern Rainforests of Andasibe. (Or you can combine it with our Southern itinerary: Rainforests, Mountains and Beaches of Southern Madagascar.)

Western Madagascar at a Glance (11 nights)

• 1 night Antananarivo, Hotel Palissandre, Bed & Breakfast
• Head south-west to overnight at Antsirabe at Couleur Cafe, Bed & Breakfast
• Continue west to overnight at Princesse Tsirbihina or similar, Bed & Breakfast
• Now head to Kirindy National Park to stay at Relais du Kirindy, Bed & Breakfast
• Long adventurous road trip to the Tsingy de Bemaraha, 3 nights at Les Soleil des Tsingy, Bed & Breakfast
• 2 nights Andasibe National Park, Manjarano Lodge, Bed & Breakfast
• Return south to Morondava to overnight at Hotel Palissandre d'Ouest, Bed & Breakfast
• Flight back to Tana to overnight close to the airport, Radisson Blu Waterfront or Nosy Manga Hotel, Bed & Breakfast
• Road transfer to Andasibe National Park for 2 nights Hotel Eulophiella, Bed & Breakfast
• Drive back to Tana in time for your homeward flight.

Tailor-make this tour

This tour works best as a 11 night tour to Western Madagascar & Andasibe. But there are various ways to customize it.

• Take off the 2-night extension to visit Andasibe National Park to make it a 9-night trip
• Recommended - An extra night at Kirindy to break the journey on the way back making it 12 nights
• Add on a few nights on the wonderful tropical island of Nosy Be instead of Andasibe!

Variations:

Rustic boat variation

Chat to us about the rustic boat variation. The advantage of this is that it cuts out ONE of the long driving days up to the Tsingy de Bemaraha. But it is NOT for everyone as you simply sleep out on the river beaches on the overnight boat trip. So very rustic!

Combine the Alley of Baobabs with our Southern Rainforests Tour

If this tour sounds like too much driving, you can also opt to just visit the Avenue of Baobabs & the Kirindy Forest. And NOT head all the way to the Tsingy of Bemaraha. This 3 night itinerary can be combined with our 11 night Rainforests Tour to make a 14 night itinerary.
