Review of Mosaic Lagoon Lodge, near Hermanus

Lagoon Lodge has not changed much, but they have kept their hand on it and it still looks as fresh as the last time we stayed there. The staff were exceptionally friendly and hospitable. The service was great, the staff made us feel old frienda and it felt like a home away from home.

The food was exceptionally good and far more of a culinary experience than the more family-orientated hotels we had visited (though they did offer kid-orientated meals for the kids if they wanted them). The food was as good as Grootbos but with fewer options to choose from, being a small lodge with only 5 rooms.

They are building a new 4 bedroom villa, all en suite, with a large open plan kitchen and living area. The living area opens onto a deck overlooking the lagoon with a huge pool. The villa will come with its own private chef and guide.

All in all we loved it and feel it makes a great (more affordable) alternative to Grootbos with great staff, atmosphere, stunning setting and great food.

It is suited more to couples and families with older children. The family suite is pretty small if you have two small children (as we did) and so if budget and childโ€™s age allows, I would recommend taking 2 rooms.

Finally the road from Stanford to the Lodge is 10km of fairly poor gravel so guests need to be ready for that, especially after heavy rain (which luckily doesnโ€™t happen that often.)
