Review of Tanamera Lodge by Christine

If you want to explore the Sabie and Hazyview area then Tanamera Lodge is a really lovely option. My husband and I stayed there for 3 nights whilst on honeymoon, and it was the perfect place to relax and unwind, and also a great base from which to check out the many attractions close by.

The lounge and bar area have a cosy and inviting appeal, encouraging book-reading and drinks on the deck whilst overlooking the infinity pool and forest beyond it. Dinners are also hosted at a large dining room table here – you can either join other guests and chat around the table, or if you prefer, you can eat in your room or on the deck. I personally loved the option of sitting at a gorgeous table and interacting with other interesting people.

Our room had an open-plan feel with a small lounge and bar, a comfortable double bed, a beautiful big bath and not only one, but two showers (one they call the ‘waterfall shower’, a unique feature of the rooms). We also had the option of using the outside shower that was situated on our private deck, along with a small plunge pool and table and chairs to enjoy the gorgeous view. Although the room was slightly dark which gave it quite a cold feel, we had a very comfortable stay.

The staff at Tanamera Lodge are very friendly and accommodating – no request was too much to ask and they all made an impression on us. The food is also locally sourced and freshly prepared everyday – the home-made muffins alone would make me go back!

There is plenty to do in the area and it is a great place from which to tour the panorama route. The forest also provides some nice walking and running tracks for those with a bit of energy, so really there is something for everyone to do.
