All in all this is a stunning property, perhaps more suited for 2nd time travelers looking for something different, not the usual safari experience. This is not a big 5 destination so the focus is more on the natural scenic beauty of the Karoo and the great cheetah project.
The cheetah project focuses on Sibella, the resident cheetah, who has now successfully raised many cubs and is enjoying her Karoo surroundings.  Her story is inspirational to say the least, a true ‘will to survive’ tale. We had the privilege of tracking her and the cubs and experiencing them in the wild, playing and stalking each other for fun.  She is really a beautiful creature and it was amazing watching her interact with her cubs in a natural environment.
I loved Karoo Lodge’s colonial style, feels like a home away from home with oversized sofas and cozy fire place in the main area.
The staff are friendly and very welcoming and when you leave it feels like you are saying goodbye to great friends. They have excellent guides with great knowledge about the Karoo and its vegetation and animals.
The main house is a real Karoo Farmhouse, very cozy with three rooms off the main dinning area it works perfect for families that want to be close to each other.
Away from the main lodge there are three Karoo Suites facing the Karoo landscape and two Sibella Suites facing a small pond.
The Karoo Suites are spacious cottages set apart for more privacy and suited for couples. Â The Sibella suites are slightly smaller and set right next to each other, sharing a deck area and could work well for families with older kids.
I loved the beautiful Karoo sky at night, from the colourful sunsets to the amazing array of stars visible with the naked eye.
I look forward to returning here in the future to breath the fresh Karoo air and rejuvenate my soul once again.
